Wow! The last week has been a whirlwind of surreal-ness. After 6 years in DC, I am off to take on a new adventure in London. Between packing up all of my belongs into our Penske truck, driving 13 hours in a day, unpacking in ATL, re-packing 6 monster suitcases and then moving and trying to get settled into my flat abroad … I hardly know which way is up! That being said, here a few of my takes on the move.
1) The drive from DC to ATL in a moving truck is definitely a 2 day trip. Driving through downtown Atlanta in a 16 ft truck at 3am is nothing short of a harrowing experience. Do NOT recommend!
2) Hire movers! Our teams both in DC and ATL were fabulous and my own personal heroes for loading\unloading all of my meticulously labeled container store boxes.
3) Parents with unused basement space are a lifesaver (thanks mom and dad!)
4) A LOT can fit into a 950 sq ft apartment. I kept thinking “oh my apartment is small, I don’t have that much to pack”….I could not have been more wrong!!
While moving is not the most fun experience, I cannot wait to share this adventure with you! Follow along for the trials and tribulations of my abroad experience, travel and lifestyle tips, and hopefully some fun stories along the way!!
