International travel is never easy, but it is usually much less so with 4 monster suitcases and two sets of golf clubs. Trust me. We had to take both of my parents’ cars to get us to Hartsfield Jackson Int’l Airport and I was alread pitying the gentleman in the Delta Skypriority lane who had to help get us checked in. Thank goodness for some good packing and Diamond Medallion status!! 3/6 suitcase were 69 pounds, on the nose (the limit is 70), and I’m pretty sure my carry-on “purse” was larger than what I normally take for week long business trips. After slapping some “HEAVY” tags on the luggage, we retreated to the SkyClub in the F terminal for some pre-flight cocktails and last minute FaceTimes to family and friends.
The flight itself was lovely…I’m my opinion, DeltaOne seats are the very best way to fly. In addition to the customizable, complimentary Tumi toiletry bags at your seat, the service, food, drinks and comfort level is spectacular. I’ve also flown multiple international trips in exit rows or in the Economy+ seats, which are fine. The main difference, for me, is arriving rested and refreshed vs. still very tired. The other major plus, particularly at Heathrow, is that DeltaOne passengers go through the fast track passport control line. This takes your wait time from 90-120 minutes down to about 20 minutes….well worth the price tag. This was a case where we definitely needed to rest and get through the airport quickly because it was non-stop from the moment we landed.
We grabbed all of our baggage and proceeded through the exit — please note, our bags were so large we literally had to be escorted through a side door. We then picked up our keys to our new flat and began the daunting process of unpacking and settling in.

John Lewis, a London department store, is a lifesaver. We got all of the home goods we needed at a very reasonable price. Highly recommend for those looking for a one-stop shop for moving in! We also made our first trip to the grocery store (because you cannot unpack without wine, right??) and are still getting used to our “European-sized” fridge…I’m pretty sure my college dorm room had a larger one! Haha!
More to come as we officially become Londoners!
